Our cookie policy

As of June 5th 2012, the Netherlands has implemented the new European Telecom law. This amendment significantly tightens the rules concerning the use of cookies to protect the privacy of website users. The amendment also requires our users to be provided with clear and unambiguous information about the purposes for which the cookies are placed.

What are cookies?

A cookie is usually a small piece of data sent from a website and stored on a user’s computer, iPad or phone while browsing a website. When the user browses the same website in the future, the data stored in the cookie can be retrieved by the website to notify the website of the user’s previous activity.

Why use cookies?

Cookies were originally designed to be a reliable mechanism for websites to remember the state of the website or activity the user had taken in the past. This can include clicking particular buttons, logging in, or a record of which pages were visited by the user even months or years ago.

Why a new law?

Some cookies (tracking) and especially third-party tracking cookies are commonly used as ways to compile long-term records of individuals’ browsing histories – a major privacy concern that has prompted European law makers to take action.

Does OrangeCoach use cookies?

  • YouTube cookies make it possible to scroll through and to pause & resume movies. These cookies are functional cookies that have a functional reason (allowed by the new law). However the ads at the start and at the end of every movie might enable Google to identify the user/visitor;
  • Google Maps: we use several Google maps cookies to visualize and map our office location on our website and to enable & remember map zooming. Some of these cookies might enable Google to identify the user/visitor;
  • Google analytics: we use google analytics to analyze the web performance of www.toalson.net. With this data we continuously try to enhance our website usability for our visitors.
